Hot Air Balloon: Rise Above the Ordinary

It was an early start, leaving Mexico City at 4 a.m., but I was buzzing with excitement! My destination was Teotihuacan, home to some of Mexico’s most incredible views, and I was headed there for a sunrise hot air balloon experience. The drive took about an hour, and the early hour made the journey feel all the more special, with the city slowly stirring awake behind us.

Drift in the Clouds, Dream in the Sky

Once at the We Fly Teotihuacán launch site, we were welcomed with a light breakfast of sandwiches, cookies, coffee, and tea—the perfect boost before lift-off. As we sipped our warm drinks, I watched the balloon crew carefully set up and inflate the massive balloon. Seeing it slowly fill with air, rising up like a gentle giant against the sky, was a sight to remember. This was prime photo time, so I made sure to capture some shots of the balloon and the landscape around us.

Up, Up and Away in a Majestic Balloon

Before boarding, we were given a quick rundown on safety and what to expect during the ride and landing. They even balanced our group’s weight to make sure everything was just right for a smooth flight. And to make it even more memorable, the balloon had both a camera and a drone to capture our journey from above! With everything set, we were ready to rise with the sun and experience Teotihuacan from a whole new perspective.

Float Into the Blue

The day couldn’t have been more perfect—I was thrilled to finally get an aerial view of Teotihuacan! As we ascended, I took in the sight of other balloons dotting the sky, and the landscape below unfolded with the beautiful towns of San Martin de las Piramides and San Juan Teotihuacan, adding even more magic to the view.

Catch the Wind, Chase the Sky

From above, the grandeur of the ancient city was truly breathtaking. The famous Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon looked even more spectacular from the sky, their massive structures dwarfed only by the vast landscape that surrounded them.

Elevate Your Adventure

After a smooth 45-minute Hot Air Balloon ride, we landed safely, greeted by the ground crew who celebrated our flight with a champagne toast. I even received a certificate as proof of my adventure—a special memento of my first balloon flight! Our pilot was fantastic, sharing insights and keeping us informed throughout the journey.

Following the ride, we headed to a cozy restaurant for lunch, which was a nice way to relax and enjoy the moment. Then, the tour guide mentioned an optional visit to the archaeological site of Teotihuacan. Even though it wasn’t initially part of my tour, I had time, so I signed up on the spot. I spent the rest of the afternoon exploring on my own, strolling around the awe-inspiring ruins, and taking as many photos as I could. It was the perfect way to cap off an incredible experience.
