A glimpse Into the Past
My trip from Rhodes Town to the village of Lindos was absolutely wonderful! I was picked up at the Marine Gate by a friendly lady who was both my guide and driver. As we headed towards Lindos, we passed by the charming port of Afandou and drove through the beautiful Afandou Valley. The views of the countryside and the Mediterranean Sea were truly stunning.
On the way, we also went past the famous Monastery of Tsambika, perched on a hill, offering panoramic views of the Kolymbia mountains and the picturesque coastline.
Our route took us through the quaint Greek village of Kalathos, where I was captivated by the summer villas and the stunning bay.
One of the highlights was reaching the Lindos viewpoint. Here, I stopped to take some panoramic photos and admired the beauty of Lindos village below. The view was simply breathtaking, giving me a glimpse of Lindos’ beauty.

Many houses in the Village of Lindos have charming blue accents, like doors, shutters, or decorative elements. This adds to the iconic blue and white color scheme of Greek island architecture, symbolizing the colors of the sea and sky.
Lindos is home to stunning beaches where visitors can unwind, such as St. Paul’s Bay. This small, secluded cove boasts crystal-clear turquoise waters, surrounded by rocky cliffs and lush greenery, creating a breathtaking backdrop. The calm, shallow waters make it perfect for swimming and snorkeling.
Named after the Apostle Paul, who is said to have sought refuge here during a storm in the 1st century AD, St. Paul’s Bay is also believed to be where he landed and preached Christianity to the Rhodians.

The Church of Panagia in the village of Lindos, Rhodes, is a stunning and historic church dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It’s one of Lindos’ most famous landmarks, known for its beautiful architecture and scenic location. Perched atop a hill, the church offers panoramic views of the village and the surrounding area.
Dating back to the 14th century, the Church of Panagia has seen several renovations and additions. It boasts a classic Greek Orthodox style, with a whitewashed exterior and a striking, red-tiled roof. A highlight of the church is its bell tower, providing breathtaking views of the village and the sea.

The Chapel of Saint George Pachymachiotis in Lindos, Rhodes, is a hidden gem that has captivated visitors with its beauty and history. Built in the 14th century during the time of the Knights Hospitaller, this small chapel is dedicated to Saint George, the patron saint of Lindos. The name “Pachymachiotis” comes from the Greek word “pachymachos,” meaning “brave warrior,” highlighting the saint’s role as a protector of the village.
During my visit, I spent ten mesmerizing minutes gazing out at the Aegean Sea. It was during this time that a mother and daughter approached me, and we struck up a brief conversation. They were keen to have their photos taken, and I gladly obliged. Despite their offer to compensate me, I politely declined, explaining that I am not a professional photographer.
Step Back in Time
One of Lindos’ most captivating attractions is its ancient theater, nestled on the slopes of the Acropolis hill. This historical site provides breathtaking views of the surrounding scenery. Dating back to the Hellenistic period, possibly around the 3rd century BCE, the theater can accommodate up to 1,800 spectators. Imagine sitting in these very seats, witnessing performances that were integral to ancient Greek culture and social life, all while gazing out at the stunning Aegean Sea.
